Conductor. Motivational speaker. Researcher. Problem solver. Budget whiz. Artist. Visionary. As a Product Manager at Kenna Security, Lindsey Compton wears any combination of different hats during the workday. With an experienced agile product manager like Lindsey at the helm, it’s no wonder our risk-based vulnerability management platform receives the market traction and recognition it does.

We sat down with Lindsey to learn a bit more about her journey to Kenna, what keeps her engaged, and a few fun facts. Let’s take a look!

Q: Where are you from?

A: I’m from Cincinnati, Ohio. I spent a year in NYC, but I’ve been in Chicago for 10 years. I absolutely love living here. Of course, my family still lives in Cincinnati so it’ll always own a piece of my heart. I’m also still a Cincinnati Bengals fan.

Q: How did you come into this field of work?

A: I actually took a bit of a windy path to my role as Product Manager here at Kenna. I studied finance during undergrad at Miami University and then spent the first five years of my career working in and around trading desks. Eventually I moved into a product management role for a SaaS-based FinTech company, where I worked for about four and a half years. From there, I joined the Kenna Security team as a Product Manager. I never expected to end up in product management or the cybersecurity domain, but I sincerely enjoy both!

Q: What keeps you motivated to get out of bed and come into work every morning?

A: My role as Product Manager lets me do a range of things that keep me engaged, like problem solving and helping our clients. And I love being able to work with different parts of the organization, whether it’s sales, engineering, quality assurance, customer success, etc. It helps me feel like I’m playing a big part in the wheel that makes things go around at Kenna. Honestly, life in product management is really fast-paced, and every day holds something new.

Q: Why is Kenna Security the best place you’ve ever worked?

A: There are so many reasons! I love the space we’re in—it’s constantly evolving and growing, and it keeps things interesting. The thing I really appreciate about what we do here is that we’re helping clients with real problems. It makes a huge difference to know that the work we do impacts our customers in a really meaningful way.

The culture at Kenna is fantastic, too. I appreciate the flexibility that Kenna offers in terms of benefits and time off. We have a great work-life balance. Of course, that doesn’t mean that we’re just sitting on our hands all day! We work with urgency here and there is no shortage of challenges to keep me engaged, learning, and growing.

At the end of the day, I just love working with smart people who are motivated. Everyone here is moving in the same direction toward the same goal. I know my colleagues and I are in lock-step, ready and willing to go above and beyond to help each other and our customers. It’s great to be a part of a team like that. I am excited every day on my way into the office.

Q: Do you have any hidden talents?

A: I’m a certified scuba diver. I received my certification at the age of 13 with my mom and a friend, and I still love to do it whenever I get the chance. There are actually a lot of Kenna employees who scuba dive, too!

I’ve also won several hula hooping contests.

Q: What are 5 must-have songs on your road trip playlist?

A:

1. Ain’t Too Proud to Beg – The Temptations

2. September – Earth, Wind and Fire

3. Riptide – Vance Joy

4. Burn – Ellie Goulding

5. All of the Lights – Kanye West

Q: If I asked 10-year-old Lindsey, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” what would she say?

A: Well, I went to space camp when I was around 10 years old, so I suspect 10-year-old-Lindsey would’ve said she was going to be an astronaut or something of the sort when she grows up! She definitely wouldn’t have said product manager, that’s for sure.

Q: What would be the title of your memoir?

A: Under Promise, Over Deliver

Q: Do you hit the snooze button or wake up immediately?

A: Well, I have a two-year-old son, so I don’t get to snooze much these days. Before, I would definitely hit the snooze button a couple times!

Q: Is a hot dog a sandwich?

A: Yes it is!

Rapid-fire Round

Q: Coffee or tea?

A: Coffee

Q: Milk first or cereal first?

A: Cereal first

Q: Sushi or tacos?

A: Tacos

Q: Concert or broadway play?

A: Concert

Q: Superman or Batman?

A: Batman
